Low Cholesterol Recipe
If you've been told that you need to watch your cholesterol, don't panic! Contrary
to popular belief, that doesn't mean you'll need to spend the rest of your life
eating raw vegetables and nothing else. There are plenty of great low cholesterol
recipes that don't taste like you're eating grass.
One of the best places to search for low cholesterol recipes is the Internet. There
are plenty of sites devoted to the subject, many including free recipes to tempt
your taste buds. One great source of information is the American Heart Association.
They have a recipe book available that is full of yummy low cholesterol recipes.
Not only are they good for your heart, but they also incorporate a wide variety
of tastes and flavors from around the world. The recipe book also includes smart
shopping tips as a bonus.
You need to remember that just because you're cooking low cholesterol recipes, you
still can't pig out and eat massive amounts. These recipes are designed to help
lower the body's cholesterol levels in moderate levels. If you eat substantial portions,
however, the recipes will be ineffective or at worst may still contribute to your
cholesterol problem. Many of them do still contain cholesterol, just at levels low
enough to not be a problem when eaten in moderate amounts.
It's also important to realize that low cholesterol doesn't always mean low in saturated
fat. Again, it's likely to be minimal, but if you eat large portions, that minimal
amount can still become an issue. Meal frequency is also something to consider.
Many recent studies have shown that it's better to eat up to six smaller meals during
the day, rather than two big meals. So it may be better to make up one serving of
a recipe, and eat it in two sittings rather than one.
You can also check out your local bookstore for low cholesterol recipe books. As
the population ages, cholesterol has become a much bigger issue, so there are a
lot more recipe books to choose form nowadays. Many of them contain recipes that
you'd swear are the same as meals you already eat, but minus the cholesterol.
Having high cholesterol levels is never going to be a good thing, but it's not the
end of eating delicious food. Spend some time looking, and you'll find plenty of
low cholesterol recipes that taste just as good as their high cholesterol counterparts.
